Donny Raffa (in photo) is a retired journeyman electrician who worked as a high voltage splicer. I learned tremendously from him when we worked together for many years in the field. There are many good people within your chosen industry that will contribute to your career growth.

Once you land that dream job and get a great mentor, the next part is to learn the business. It's very important to keep your eyes and ears open at all times. You should absorb all of what is going on around you like a sponge. For anyone who doesn't want you there, disffuse that negative energy with humor. Once you poke fun at yourself and share your humor, it works to lighten up the environment.

One of the most rewarding aspects of life is when you make your own money. When you earn your own cash, you get to call the shots. It's highly rewarding to navigate your own way through life, via making major life decisions. I take great pride in the power of earning my own income. The only person you must answer to is yourself. My father used to tell me that, when you are strong and smart, you can accomplish anything that you set out to do!
